From our research findings, we developed use-case scenarios the included simple wireframes of what the new student planning system might look like. The proposed system includes features that allows students to visually understand what courses are required to graduate, how pre-requisites affect their schedule, and the ability to find room in their schedules for studying abroad and extracurricular activities.
As part of a contract between IBM and Carnegie Mellon Computing Services to develop a new student services system for Carnegie Mellon, our team was asked to explore the realm of student planning and develop a tool to help support students plan their student career along with their advisors.
After conducting exploratory research with students and advisors, we delivered a series of design scenarios, showing how students and advisors each would use the system to help accomplish the planning goals.
